Do you ever have those days when you just can’t? Everyone does, I’m sure of it. Even when we can’t, we do, because we have to. It’s what adults are supposed to do…right? What’s your secret to making your can’t a can?
Several years ago I went through an extremely depressive and negative stage in my existence. I had marital problems. I had money problems. I had employment problems. I had….problems, and lots of them. I was negative. I admit that. It hurt some of my relationships. I admit that too. I didn’t have a reason to be positive, it was all just plain crapiness on a day in and day out basis. I wallowed in it like a pig in mud. I allowed it to consume me, swallow me whole.
Until one day, I didn’t. My marriage got better. I got a job. Finances always kind of suck for us but we make do, so it was better. Things were lining up nicely so I hosed off the mud and tried to get back into the sunshine. I realized then how much better it felt to be happy.
Sometimes being happy takes effort. I try to use humor to find my center. When the weight of the world starts to smother me I make myself laugh. I type a word into Pinterest that makes me smile and read funny memes about it. I watch a funny show. I go to the pages of Facebook friends that I know are silly. And daily, good mood or not, I try to be aware enough of my surroundings that I can find the humor that is all around us. The universe has a wicked good sense of humor and if you pay attention, you can see it everywhere, most of the time.
I’ve been stressing the last few days..those darn finances again. I’ve also been kind of down because I am trying really hard to write some great content articles for the site. Ideas have been fleeting though and not flowing as I’d like.
Whatever shall I write about? While shopping, the Universe poked me and showed me this sign:
And from this simple sign came this little blurb you are reading now. Silly, ain’t it?
